Overview

Tyrants Hollowing is the collective term for the catastrophic biological and physical effects suffered by living humanoids exposed to the extreme magical vacuum of Tyranis itself without the protection of a Mark. The continent’s center, known as The Void, acts as an irresistible siphon, dragging both matter and magic toward itself with enough force to tear the world apart at the seams.

Manifestation Zones

The severity of symptoms scales directly with proximity to the island’s epicenter:

1. The Fringe: First stage of exposure; minor physical discomfort and atmospheric anomalies.
2. The Scarlands: High danger; immediate physiological breakdown for unprotected subjects.
3. The Deadlands: Lethal exposure; rapid crystallization and total systemic collapse.

Symptoms & Effects

The Arcane Leech

The environment attempts to “thin” the weave of reality itself. In the Fringe and Scarlands, ambient fire extinguishes instantly—not by wind, but because the heat energy is ripped from the flame and dragged upward into the sky toward Tyranis’s center.

Aetheric Crystallization

Magic that cannot flow freely due to the vacuum becomes trapped in physical matter, creating jagged clusters of raw mana-crystal. These formations are found everywhere: jutting from the ground like teeth, or embedded deep within the flesh of local fauna.

The Vessel Rupture (The Siphon’s Call)

For beings with significant arcane potential (e.g., spellcasters) lacking the Mark, the pull of the Void is so violent it attacks the body directly to bypass physical containment:

• Vein Bursting: Pressure builds rapidly in the circulatory system. Veins near the surface—especially on the neck, face, and temples—burst outward, creating a map of black lines against pale skin.
• Ocular Hemorrhage: Blood begins to leak from the corners of the eyes, not as a tear, but as a thick, dark slurry that defies gravity for a moment before falling backward toward Tyranis.
• The Siphon Path: The body is used as a conduit. Magic within the blood is ripped away and siphoned directly into the air to feed the Void, while the physical blood falls to the ground just feet ahead of the victim, pooling unnaturally around their boots as they are dragged backward by the sheer force of the pull.

The Hysterical State (Late-Stage Breakdown)

In rare cases where a victim does not succumb immediately to blood loss or magical exhaustion, the raw influx of arcane energy into their nervous system causes severe psychological breaks. These individuals become erratic and violent, screaming at empty air as if facing a nightmare horde. Witnesses report these victims suddenly unleashing wild spells in random directions, seemingly attacking invisible enemies hallucinated by the vacuum’s pressure on their minds before collapsing or crystallizing entirely.
