Eldravis Campaign

Continent: Eldravis

Heroic fantasy with dark intrigue, set on the continent of Eldravis, made up of four distinct landmasses. Some small elements are borrowed from Dark Sun, though far less extreme than that setting.

RegionNotes
TyranisUntamed wilderness at the heart of the Aetheric Famine; little is known about it. Uses Hexploration and Excursion Resting — travel pace, food, and water need to be tracked here.
SeraphosTropical archipelago built on agriculture and fishing. Magic is heavily restricted with harsh public penalties for misuse, enforced by a martial monk order — but the people themselves are famously friendly.
VyloriaCold, fjord-carved land bound to the sea for trade. Magic is only permitted within the sanctioned rites of a naval religious order; practiced outside that context, it’s treated with deep suspicion.
CaldrisA magocratic power built on scattered isles held together by arcane tethering. Magic is treated as the most important thing above all else, and its factions maintain an uneasy, ever-shifting balance of power.

Character Creation

House Rules & Homebrew

Please read the following pages:

Death & Consequences Resurrection magic is possible but not guaranteed, and very unlikely early in the campaign. Each resurrection attempt requires a save/check against a DC that starts at 10 and increases by 2 for every successful resurrection performed on that character. This campaign can be more lethal or difficult at times, so build accordingly (e.g. don’t dump Constitution).

Combat Helper At the start of a session, I may assign someone as combat helper to keep track of initiative order and call out who’s up next while the current player takes their turn. If it’s your turn and you still don’t know what to do, you can skip and take the Dodge action instead of holding up the table.

Safety Tools

  • If there’s something you’re not comfortable seeing come up in the story (phobias, specific themes, etc.), send it to me privately beforehand. I will not disclose this to the group and will keep it in mind when writing.
  • If something comes up during a session that you’re not comfortable with, flag it immediately. We’ll take a short break and I’ll adjust things as needed.
  • On the flip side, if there’s something you’d like to see show up in the story (a theme, type of scene, subplot, etc.), send me a quick message. Always happy to weave that in where it fits.

Party Expectations

  • Build a character that can function within a group and wants to cooperate. A character concept that resists teamwork is your responsibility to avoid. “Lone wolf” or anti-social builds are not compatible with this table.
  • No PvP. No stealing from, attacking, or sabotaging party members. Possible narrow exceptions may be introduced later, but only with prior table agreement, never unilaterally.
  • Share the spotlight and don’t let your enjoyment come at the cost of other players. Everyone at the table should get room to have their moment; don’t dominate every scene or talk over other players. If that’s a struggle for you, this table isn’t for you. Players are expected to help foster a fun, teamwork-friendly environment for everyone.
  • Characters can disagree, bicker, or clash in the story, that’s good drama. But it stays in the fiction: it should never turn into real friction between the players themselves.
  • Unsafe or reckless choices can directly lead to player death or other serious consequences. Example: stealing from a stall right next to a guard is a real risk, not a freebie.
  • If you’re ever unhappy with your class or character, we can discuss it privately.

Session Logistics

Group Structure

  • Player count: sessions run with 3 to 5 players. 6 is possible occasionally but not preferred.
  • The first 2 sessions of the campaign will run with the same fixed group of players. After that, players can swap in more freely, though I may occasionally request the same group again for direct follow-up sessions.

Table Logistics

  • If the session starts at 12:30, arrival/walk-in time is 12:00.
  • Every session has a short 10-15 minute break in the middle. Use this time for the restroom, a smoke, a phone call, eating something, etc. Please save these for the break where possible. That said, if you genuinely need the bathroom outside the break, just go; that’s always fine.
  • Eat before the session starts. No meals during gameplay. Small snacks (chips, candy, etc.) are fine, but try to keep this to a minimum.
  • Phones/tablets at the table are for D&D Beyond only. No memes, WhatsApp, or other browsing unless directly relevant to the game.
